Here is a wonderful knitted bonnet that ties under the chin from about 1910.  It is made of a cream colored wool and has four silk buttons at the chin area.   The bottom button does have a loop to button it together.  The other two are simply decorative.  

It measures 12 1/2 inches in length not including the ties and 9 1/2 inches across the width so would be 19 inches if laid out flat. 

Condition is quite good there are about a dozen areas on the tie mainly to the left side that have some moth nibbles. 

This was acquired from an old General Store so was never used. 

A lovely winter bonnet, I can see it being worn to go ice skating or tobagganing.
